Welcome to the first Weekend Wishlist of 2013! In case you're new around these parts, last year I did quite a few 'themed' wishlists, and they got a good reaction and they're definitely something I like to do (I like the challenge of finding stuff that fits the theme, I think!), so I've decided to continue the trend in 2013.
This theme was a no-brainer for me, after walking around in the freezing cold this week as I'm sure you all have too, I realised I am very bad at dressing for the weather. I do have an amazing new coat, but aside from that I have limited warming attire. Which, for someone who loves being all cosy and warm, is a bit strange!
The first item, what's that? A dress? But how does that fit into the theme, I hear you cry (well, you're probably not THAT involved, humour me though). This Topshop dress (3) is actually made out of sweater material, meaning it'll be warmer than the flimsy dresses I always wear. Plus, it's grey. I like grey. The fit looks like it'd be pretty flattering too. And for when I'm feeling in more of a knitwear type mood, I love this jumper (7), by Soul Cal at Republic, in a range of different colours if khaki's not really your bag. I really like the colour though, and the cable knit, and the arms look nice and long so I can hide my hands in the ends of it like a schoolchild. And, speaking of my hands...
I often don't bother wearing gloves, as it's an effort and a half to change the song on my iPhone, and I'm impatient with songs - which usually results in frosty fingers that resemble those of a very cold pensioner. I've seen these 'smartphone friendly' gloves doing the rounds and have decided I need a pair in my life. My gloves are usually cheapo pairs from Primark, and I end up rarely wearing them, but I figure if I have a pair I'll actually get a lot of use out of, it's worth spending a bit more on these ones (4) from Become Antique (the clothing company by Max Helyer from YMAS, fact fans).
I may have gone a little crazy with the headwear on this wishlist - but I'm a big fan of hats! The River Island burgundy beanie (5) would go well with quite an indie/alternative style, whilst the cutesy floral hat from Matalan (6) is great for the more girly amongst us - and those on more of a budget! As for the ear muffs (3)...well...they're just adorable! And finally, to stop me getting bronchitis and the like, I've picked out a snood (2) from Ark Clothing. I kinda really want to get a snood - as I reckon it'd do a much better job of keeping my neck warm than the flimsy scarves I have at the moment.
What are your winter warmer essentials?
Also, if there's any theme you'd like me to do a wishlist on, do let me know in the comments or on Twitter (@milly_vanilli)!
