Rimmel Apocalips 'Stellar', £5.99, online and in Superdrug stores

I like to think I'm quite good at not falling for 'blogger hype' around products. I still don't own a Naked Palette (although I do really want one...) and it took me the best part of a year to get round to buying some flatforms (in the sale for a tenner...). When I saw loads of bloggers talking about Rimmel's Apocalips, I wasn't grabbed straightaway. I was impressed by the brightness of the colours, but I've only really been venturing properly into the world of lip products this year and it's not a make-up product I get particularly in a whirl about. Until now.

I was doing a bit of make-up splurging in Boots and Superdrug after venturing out into the snow, and I saw the Apocalips lip lacquers languishing in the middle of the shelf (at perfect eye level. Sneaky shop techniques...) and thought what the hell, I'll swatch one. I picked Stellar, a coral-y red, and after deciding I really loved the colour, picked one up and went to the till. The man serving me asked me about it as he apparently hadn't heard of them and we ended up having a bit of a chat about Apocalips, which was a little strange but there you go!

The applicator is soft and flexible, with a little dip in the middle meaning you can pick up enough product to apply in one swipe, and it's easy to spread it across the lips and into the corners of them. I found it to be long wearing too, getting at least 2-3 hours wear before the need to reapply, which for a gloss-type product I find impressive. The creamy consistency also means it didn't dry out my lips, which some lip products have a tendency to do. You can even adjust the amount you use for a brighter or less obvious look.

I found that Stellar REALLY suited my complexion, and is probably the most perfect lip colour I've ever found for me! I love how bright it is whilst still being very wearable, even in the daytime. I definitely want to pick up some more of the shades in the range. This time, the hype has won me over.
