30 Facts About Me

I've really been enjoying the 'facts' videos and posts that other bloggers have been doing lately, it's awesome to have an insight into the person behind the blog. I decided to go for 30, as 50 was a bit lengthy, and I'm probably not interesting enough to think up that many good ones!

1. I have a phobia of birds. Pigeons are the absolute worst, as the picture above demonstrates.

2. I really like eating cereal with no milk, often straight out of the packet.

3. My favourite band ever are Alkaline Trio, and I generally listen to a mixture of (using genres very loosely) pop-punk, post-hardcore, some metal and a fair bit of 90s pop for the fun. And power ballads. I like power ballads.

4. I won’t brush my teeth if anyone’s watching, as the idea of it really creeps me out.

5. I was (and kinda still am) a hugely obsessive Buffy fan, I own every episode on VHS and  DVD, along with action figures, books, and even a Pez witch bought for me by one of my favouritest friends, Milly ‘the other Milly’.

6. I like tattoos, and currently have 9, including some Alkaline Trio poster artwork on my calf, an anchor design on my forearm (which I had done on Saturday and will be posting about properly once it's healed!) and lyrics from Jimmy Eat World's '23' on my ankle.

7. Speaking of, '23' by Jimmy Eat World is my favourite song of all time.

8. When I was little, my mum used to say ‘bollocks’ whenever she dropped things. One day she dropped something in a shop and I helpfully interjected by saying it myself. Loudly.

9. I once dressed up as the Pope for a fancy dress night.

10. My favourite film is Repo! The Genetic Opera. But I also have a huge soft spot for Just My Luck.

11. I live in dresses, playsuits and shorts and hate wearing trousers/jeans.

12. When I was younger I went to an evening stage school and performed at the London Palladium.

13. I’ve met a lot of my friends online, mainly through the Download Festival Forums, and have travelled all around the UK for meet-ups and had amazing weekends in loads of cities.

14. I prefer savoury food to sweet, but I have a weakness for the bad sugary drinks.

15. I’ve been to the last eight Download Festivals, and will be making this year my ninth. And I still overpack.

16. I moved to London about four months ago (although it feels like I’ve lived here forever) and still get really confused by the night buses. After my work party, I ended up lost at Walthamstow Bus Station in a Snow White costume.

17. My usual inability to flirt/make a move on someone if I like them has been a constant point of mocking by others throughout my adult life.

18. I still get excited over birthdays, both mine and other people’s.

19. My favourite author is Dean Koontz, and I have a bit of a massive book character crush on Odd Thomas.

20. When I was at school I successfully completed a seven day sponsored silence.

21. I have a bad habit of leaving things in pubs/clubs. Cardigans, umbrellas, gloves and even shoes are the main offenders.

22. After I finished Uni, I was elected by students to spend a year working as a Union Officer (Vice President Activities), which involved an intense week of campaigning in the same week my dissertation was due...

23. My favourite drink is whiskey and coke, but I rarely drink it out as I drink it really quickly and end up poor/drunk very quickly.

24. I can drive, and used to have a Fiat Punto called Giles. Yep, as in Giles from Buffy.

25. I have never been, and will likely never be, a morning person.

26. I got an A in Spanish GCSE, and I can’t remember much other than ‘donde es la biblioteca?’ (where is the library?), which will be useful if I go to Spain and fancy a bit of a read.

27. My favourite nail polish is Models Own – Gold Rush.

28. Unless I have to sit properly, I always sit with my legs crossed.

29. I’m originally from Norfolk, and my parents actually own (or owned, because I can’t remember if they sold it or just planned to!) a tractor.

30. When I was at Uni, I went through a phase of being obsessed with mint sauce and having it on everything – even mint sauce on toast...
